Coffee, Canva, and Cuss Words: A Day in the Life of Third Coast Designs
Welcome to the glitter-filled, hoodie-wearing, multitasking madness that is Third Coast Designs™ — where your favorite tees are born from a head full of ideas and a heart full of hustle. Spoiler: there’s coffee. There’s chaos. There might even be a meltdown or two (but make it cute).
☕ Morning: Fueled by Caffeine & Chaos
We don’t wake up — we rise from the ashes of forgotten permission slips, lost shoes, and group texts about last-minute practices. My mornings kick off with a strong cup of coffee and three kids acting like they’ve never gotten ready for school in their live, OR acting like the damn time keeper. *Insert eye roll* If you’ve ever tried to parent preteens and teenagers before 8am, you know it’s a sport. We’ll call it-Athletical. This is what my 10 year old calls athletic lmao- and you know what buddy- I AM HERE FOR IT.
👩💻 Mid Morning/day: The Design Tornado
Once I’m back in my creative cave, it’s game on. Designing shirts, answering client messages, checking on print orders, and wondering how glitter ended up in my bra. Canva is open. Adobe is limping. My desktop looks like digital spaghetti and somehow... it works.
Some days-in between designing awesome shit, letting the dogs out, & vacuuming the excessive furballs from Archie- (the golden retriever)- I squeeze in a phone call with my bestie/self-proclaimed sister to talk about-well, anything & everything-from the latest sales at Target, or how annoying teenagers are, to- & this is my fave- planning our podcast!
But-This is when the magic happens. Bold collections like Chaos & Couture, Untamed Threads™, and the unapologetic Daddy Don Collection take shape. Every design has a story — and usually, a snarky punchline.
📦 Afternoon: Orders, Overtime, and Oops
Post-school pickup? That’s when the chaos clock resets. Between helping listening to the daily tea of middle schoolers, prepping dinner, and breaking up sibling debates over literally nothing, I’m also packing orders, double-checking tracking numbers, and making sure USPS doesn’t ghost me.
If something goes sideways? Which who am I kidding-something usually does- No worries — we improvise, we caffeinate, we throw on a hoodie and keep it pushing. And maybe-order pizza.
🌙 Late Night: Where the Magic (and the Weird Ideas) Happen
Here’s a little secret: my best ideas don’t happen at a desk. They happen at midnight, on the couch, when the house is finally quiet and my brain is finally free. This is when the sass flows. The designs get bold. And yes, I have designed a racoon-in-a-cowboy-hat shirt and I stand by it.
Third Coast Designs is about more than just cool tees — it’s about owning your chaos and wearing it like a badge of honor.
I literally keep a notebook strictly for ideas. Well that’s a lie- it also has last weeks grocery list & menu. And scribbled reminders of last minute basketball playoffs, & other fun mom reminders.
